Welcome to 88 Keys School of Piano and Accordion Instruction. I have created this form for you and or your parent/ guardian to fill you in on my background and experience. It will also inform you of my expectations and guidelines as I also wish to find out about my prospective students, and their expectations.
I started taking lessons at seven years of age with a private teacher, then moved on for more advances lessons at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, with Ed Erikson.
I was very active in many high school productions and events including choir, drama club, and I accompanied many a vocalist on private events during high school.
I have taught electric keyboards at COVA Conservatory in Oakland to 4- 8th graders. I also compose, record, and perform with two keyboards in my band called Salane and Friends.
I found myself working with my good friend and fellow artist Kimric Smythe, owner and operator of Smythes Accordion Center, who restores, and sells new accordions. I have been training with several professional accordion instructors for the past 4 years. And I realized how much joy it gave me. That is why I also am involved with piano and accordion teaching.
I recently played live on radio station KALW in SanFrancisco in order to promote Shakespears Greatest Hits, a compulation album which features many other local Bay Area Musicians. The CD can be purchased at cdbaby.com. My performance can be viewed on YouTube.com at Shakespears Greatest Hits. Song title: Go From My Window, with Salane and Friends... or here on this website.
I am involved in the local East Bay music scene. I professionally perform around the bay area at several well known venues, and am an ICS member (Immersion Composition Society.), which is a composers group that meets once a month. Please see the Frustrated Songwriter's Handbook.
which was written and conceived by a fellow friend and East Bay local artist, Nicholas Dobson.
